Happy Halloween! 👻🎃 The Smurphsters participated in the annual ChemClub pumpkin carving and costume contests, taking home 2nd place in both of them!! Our winning pumpkin design featured Jackson Lanterns, a country pumpkin with a dream to make it big in Nashville 🪕 Stay tuned for next year!

A warm welcome to some new (and returning) faces! We have three new undergraduate students joining us for the summer (Layla, Bennett, and Soveren) and one undergraduate student returning (Charlotte) to the group after completing CHM395 over the 2024-25 academic year.

Last week, Isabelle, Olivia, and Xiaoying all gave oral presentations at the 2024 AGU meeting, and got to meet several alumni from the group who were also attending.

Today, Dr. Matthew Davis successfully defended his PhD thesis titled "An Investigation of Local and Regionally Significant Non-Agricultural Sources of Ammonia in Toronto and the Great Lakes Region." Join us in wishing him good luck at his new position as a Postdoctoral Fellow at CSU Fort Collins.

One of our undergraduate researchers, Filip, on exchange from Imperial College London, is pictured having set up his rooftop sampling mat to study ammonia deposition in the snowpack! It's a great day for it (brrrr ❄️☃️)!

The group enjoyed a delicious Thai meal in December to celebrate the successful PhD defence of Mark Panas, whose thesis focused on measurements of N2O from stratospheric balloons. Congratulations and we wish you all the best in your future endeavours!!
